BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE
Perry Calderwood (BA Honours [Soviet and East European Studies], Carleton
University, 1983; MA [International Affairs], Carleton University, 1986) joined the
Department of External Affairs and International Trade in 1986 and has since served
abroad in Geneva, New York, Bogotá, Moscow, Buenos Aires and Pretoria. At
headquarters, he has served as Desk Officer, South America Relations Division; Desk
Officer, UN and Nuclear Affairs, Arms Control and Disarmament; and Deputy Director,
UN and Commonwealth Affairs Division. Since 2004, he has served as Deputy to the
Prime Minister’s Personal Representative to Africa, and Director, Eastern and Southern
Africa Division. Perry Calderwood succeeds Renata Wielgosz.
