The Government of Canada has put in place movement restrictions to prevent
the spread of avian influenza in Saskatchewan. Avian influenza is a highly
contagious disease in birds. Movement of birds, bird products, or things that
may have come in contact with birds may cause the spread of avian
influenza.
Movement of poultry and eggs purchased from grocery stores remains
unrestricted.
The movement of birds, bird products and farm equipment within most of the
province is unrestricted. However, permits may be required for the movement of
these items within or from the 10 km Restricted Region indicated on the map
below.
No birds can be moved out of the province or into the 3 km Infected Region
indicated on the map below.
Movement of pet birds and hunter-killed birds out of the province is under
review and individuals should contact the Canadian Food Inspection Agency
(CFIA) for more information.
Permits are required to move live birds and hatching eggs from outside of
Saskatchewan across the province to other parts of the country. No restrictions
apply to the movement of poultry products and table eggs from outside of
Saskatchewan across the province to other parts of the country.
