MARKHAM - The Honourable Tony Clement, Minister of Health, today announced that "My Food Guide Online," a Web-based interactive tool launched as part of the new Eating Well with Canada's Food Guide, is now available to Canadians to print in multiple languages.
"Canada's Food Guide has been providing Canadians with important tips and messages on healthy living for 65 years and today, Canada's New Government is proud to launch this guide in 10 additional languages," said Minister Clement. "Along with providing more culturally relevant foods from a variety of ethnic cuisines, this updated interactive tool will help make healthy eating information available to Canadians who are new to the country or less familiar with English or French."
"My Food Guide Online" allows users to personalize Food Guide information based on their age and sex, as well as food and activity preferences. Canadians now have the option of completing the activity in English or French, and printing their copy of My Food Guide in 10 other languages. The languages include: Arabic, Chinese (traditional and simplified), Korean, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog, Tamil and Urdu.
Canada's Food Guide has been one of Canadians' most trusted sources of information for 65 years. Over the past three years, Health Canada has consulted approximately 7000 stakeholders including dietitians, scientists, physicians and public health personnel, in order to develop the new version of Canada's Food Guide released on February 5, 2007.
