Death of Cst. Doug Scott - Statement from the Commissioner

It is with great sadness that I advise you today of the loss of one of our members. Constable Doug Scott (Reg# 54592), of Kimmirut Detachment in Nunavut, was killed last night while on duty in that community.
At this point we know that Cst. Scott was responding to a report of an impaired driver late
Monday evening.
The investigation is ongoing.
Constable Scott was just 20 years old.
We have been reminded once again of the risks our members face daily. It is a terrible blow to lose another member of the RCMP.
My thoughts and prayers are with members of Constable Scott’s family in Ontario.
Our investigation continues in Kimmirut. Our thoughts are with all members in V Division at this time, also with the communities in the North.
We will continue to update you as information becomes available.
