Trois-Rivières, Quebec, November 26, 2007 The Honourable Jean-Pierre Blackburn, Minister of Labour and Minister of Canada Economic Development, took the opportunity while in the region today to announce that the firm Extravision Vidéo Technologies Inc. will receive $288,000 in government funding, $57,600 of it in the form of a non-repayable contribution, to carry out an international commercialization strategy on a technology-based product derived from research and development.
Founded in 1998, Extravision Vidéo Technologies Inc. specializes in the manufacture, integration and development of perimeter security and monitoring systems. This innovative company produces state-of-the-art software to protect strategic sites like nuclear facilities, chemical plants and airports.
This contribution from Canada Economic Development will enable the firm to hire five new employees to handle international market development, improve its corporate website, design new promotional tools and carry out prospecting missions abroad. With this project, Extravision Vidéo Technologies Inc. expects to create 18 new skilled jobs over the next two years.

The measures contained in this plan include, among other things, investments of $9.2 billion in research and technology over the next year. By lending our support to Extravision Vidéo Technologies, we are helping to strengthen the high-tech, information and communications technologies sector, an area flagged as a major priority by our Mauricie business office," stated Minister Blackburn.

"I am convinced that this assistance from Canada Economic Development, coupled with our commercialization strategy, will give rise to new business opportunities and allow us to grow in an expanding world market," he concluded.
