Shawinigan, Quebec, November 5, 2007 – While passing through the region, Jacques Gourde, Member of Parliament for Lotbinière–Chutes-de-la-Chaudière and Parliamentary Secretary to the Honourable Jean-Pierre Blackburn, Minister of Labour and Minister of Canada Economic Development, today announced that the firm Innovation Movex Inc. has been awarded $228,500 in funding, $45,700 of it in the form of a non-repayable contribution, for the implementation of a commercialization strategy on Canadian, United States, Asian and European markets.
Since its founding in 2002, Innovation Movex Inc. has devoted its energy to an R&D project that has led to the development of handling and lift equipment especially designed for the moving and transport of heavy or large objects, even on difficult surfaces and uneven terrain. Marketed under the name Track-O, this remote-controlled machinery is characterized by its ease of operation and exceptional efficiency.
This funding from Canada Economic Development will allow Innovation Movex Inc. to develop a website and various promotional tools, take part in specialized trade fairs, hire a direct sales representative and cover the expenses associated with the certification and intellectual property protection of the different Track-O models.
”This support from Canada Economic Development is consistent with our government’s determination to facilitate and bolster the development of small and medium-sized businesses in Quebec. Through a series of measures announced in our last budget, we are helping them rise to the productivity challenge and thereby improve their competitive standing. With the execution of this project, Innovation Movex Inc. will be in a position to increase its sales and begin growing by developing new markets in a structured manner,” stated Mr. Gourde.
”Transport equipment is a market niche our Mauricie Business Office has flagged as a priority. This Innovation Movex project is therefore entirely in line with our commitment to support the development of this sector of activity. I am delighted to see that this contribution from the Government of Canada will make it possible to maintain 5 skilled jobs and create an additional 11 new positions,” he added.
“This funding from Canada Economic Development is critical to the growth of our enterprise and will give us the tools we need to break into new markets in the very short term. Our goal is to have 60% to 75% of our sales conducted on foreign markets within the next three years,” concluded Innovation Movex President Fabien Lavoie.
This contribution is awarded through Canada Economic Development’s Community Economic Diversification Initiation–Vitality (CEDI-Vitality).
