Prince Albert, SK - Mr. Brian Fitzpatrick, Member of Parliament for Prince Albert, announced today, on behalf of the Honourable Greg Thompson, Minister of Veterans Affairs, a contribution of up to $1,200 to The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #2 (Prince Albert). The funds, provided through Veterans Affairs Canada's Community Engagement Partnership Fund, will support the Legion's Remembrance Day activities.
"This Legion's Remembrance Day ceremony has attracted upwards of 2,000 people in the past," said Minister Thompson. "Our government is proud to support Prince Albert Branch #2 as it brings together the entire community in the name of remembrance."
The day-long event will include activities such as a Remembrance Day service, a colour parade, a wreath-laying ceremony, and a reception for participants. A large portion of the community is expected to attend and participate, including local Veterans, youth, Cadets, and families.
"Encouraging youth participation at services like these ensures our heroes will be remembered for years to come," added Mr. Fitzpatrick.
The Community Engagement Partnership Fund provides funding to non-profit groups, educational institutions and other organizations delivering remembrance activities and events. Administered through Veterans Affairs Canada's Canada Remembers program, contributions are made throughout the year and encompass both national and community-based projects.
