Appointment to the Board of Trustees of the Canadian Museum of Civilization

OTTAWA, December 19, 2007 - The Honourable Josée Verner, Minister of Canadian Heritage, Status of Women and Official Languages, today announced the appointment of Judith Baxter, of Clifton Royal, New Brunswick, as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Canadian Museum of Civilization.
"Ms. Baxter has a business and museum background that will be of great benefit to the Canadian Museum of Civilization," said Minister Verner.
Ms. Baxter is a retired businesswoman who was a founding director of the Kingston Farmers' Market and worked there from 1969 to 2007. She was a founding museum director of the John Fisher Memorial Museum and served as volunteer museum co-ordinator from 1972 to 2007. Since her retirement, she has been a writer and commercial illustrator. Ms. Baxter currently sits on the Board of the New Brunswick Museum.
The Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation is a Crown corporation responsible for management of the Canadian Museum of Civilization and its affiliated museum, the Canadian War Museum, as well as the Virtual Museum of New France.
