RCMP releases the Drug Situation Report - 2006

OTTAWA - December 17, 2007 – The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) today released the Drug Situation Report – 2006.
Prepared by the RCMP's Criminal Intelligence Program, the report describes the illicit drug trade in Canada in 2006. It is based on information and intelligence from investigations and seizures conducted by the RCMP and various Canadian agencies and departments involved in drug enforcement.
This year, the report features two new sections: Drug-generated Proceeds and Emerging Trends. The Drug-generated Proceeds section discusses the money laundering aspect of the drug trade, while Emerging Trends highlights new national and global patterns relating to cannabis, cocaine and opiates.
