Shawinigan, Quebec, February 29, 2008 – Acting on behalf of the Honourable Jean-Pierre Blackburn, Minister of Labour and Minister of Canada Economic Development, Denis Lebel, Member of Parliament for Roberval–Lac-Saint-Jean, today announced that Camivan Inc. will receive $88,000 in repayable funding under the Community Economic Diversification Initiative to market its new M-Shop, an ergonomically-designed mobile workshop for cutaway trucks and vans.
Founded in 2003, Camivan developed the M-Shop as an alternative to conventional truck bodies. Made entirely of recyclable aluminium and polymer, the M-Shop is a lighter, roomier and more economical option for users of such workshops.
"In line with the objectives laid out in our Advantage Canada economic plan, our government is committed to building an economy founded on innovation. In carrying out this project, which promises to play a significant role in revitalizing the Shawinigan area, Camivan is positioning itself to market a top-of-the-line solution that could well revolutionize the industry," stated Mr. Lebel.
Camivan's project involves obtaining the patents needed to ensure intellectual property protection and promoting its products through advertising campaigns and various promotional activities. This initiative is also expected to generate socio-economic benefits for Shawinigan, among them the creation or maintenance of 12 jobs, including five new positions within the first year of the project.
"Canada Economic Development has clearly grasped the huge potential of our new product. Thanks to its support, we will now be in a position to promote the many advantages of M-Shop to entrepreneurs all across the country. I am proud to highlight the fact that this mobile workshop is both durable and environmentally friendly," explained Camivan President André Lavoie.
