Montreal, Quebec, February 14, 2008 – The Canadian Space Agency invites the public to see a life-sized model of Dextre the space robot, sculpted in ice for Ottawa's Winterlude.
This two-armed robot is the third and final component of the Mobile Servicing System developed by Canada for the International Space Station. It will be presented during the last weekend at Ottawa's Winterlude, February 16 and 17, 2008, in Confederation Park.
Canadian astronaut Steve MacLean will be speaking about Canada's space missions on Saturday, February 16, at 1:00 p.m. Daniel Rey, Canadian Space Agency Project Engineer for Dextre, will give a talk about Dextre on February 17 at 1:00 p.m. Both presentations will be held in the Crystal Lounge pavilion.
