Rivière-du-Loup, Quebec, February 22, 2008 The Honourable
Jean-Pierre Blackburn, Minister of Labour and Minister of Canada Economic
Development, today announced the granting of $71,500 in repayable funding to
Fabrication J.R. Tardif Inc., a Rivière-du-Loup firm founded
10 years ago that specializes in the manufacture of equipment for peat bogs
and blueberry fields.
With this project, Fabrication J.R. Tardif intends to redesign its
plant, reorganize its production methods and introduce various management
practices aimed at improving the firm's productivity. The company also plans to
implement a marketing strategy to bolster sales of its blueberry field machinery
in Canada and abroad. The project is expected to result in the creation of seven
new jobs in the Rivière-du-Loup area.
"Raising productivity and setting out in search of new markets, as
Fabrication J.R. Tardif is doing, are critical to the success of our
enterprises and prosperity of our country. This contribution from my department
is consistent with the various measures the Government of Canada has put in
place, of which the Advantage Canada strategic plan is one, to help
build a strong economy capable of generating sustainable growth," noted
Minister Blackburn.
"This funding from Canada Economic Development comes at an opportune time for
us. Indeed, Fabrication J.R. Tardif is on the verge of undertaking a shift
that will enable it to better meet the specific needs of its clients and ensure
its expansion on both the national and international markets. The specialized
equipment we have developed through innovation offers many key advantages for
peat bog and blueberry field operators," added André Tardif, President and
General Manager of Fabrication J.R. Tardif.
