Sherbrooke, Quebec, February 20, 2008 Jacques Gourde,
Member of Parliament for LotbinièreChutes-de-la-Chaudière and Parliamentary
Secretary to the Honourable Jean-Pierre Blackburn, Minister of Labour and
Minister of Canada Economic Development, today announced that the firm Candock
Inc. will receive $73,750 in repayable funding to complete its development of
new products and expand its distribution network, mainly into the United States,
Europe and the Middle East. With this project, the Sherbrooke firm expects
to create four new jobs and increase its exports by 80% over the next two years.
Candock Inc. specializes in the manufacture and sale of modular floating
docks and platform systems composed mainly of cubes of durable high-density
polyethylene resin. Designed for residential, commercial and industrial use,
these maintenance-free, easy-to-assemble systems are ideal for the practice of
water, sporting and recreational activities. As an additional competitive
advantage, these eco-friendly products will not break down to adversely affect
the water environment. Renowned for the quality and durability of its products,
Candock Inc. has enjoyed steady growth over the past decade and now stands as
the world leader in its field.

enterprises in their efforts to break into new markets and, in so doing, to
become more competitive, improve their export capabilities and further the
growth of the Canadian economy. This Candock project will help create and
maintain jobs and contribute to Canada's export growth," stated Mr. Gourde.
"This funding from Canada Economic Development has been granted through our
Business and Regional Growth program, whose goal is to support the
transfer of technology and research outputs and to create the conditions
conducive to attracting foreign investment to Quebec. This Candock project is
testimony of the efforts this company is making to diversify its export markets,
a key element in adjusting to the demands of the new global economy. The
Government of Canada is committed to helping enterprises rise to these
challenges in order to ensure their growth and survival," commented
Minister Blackburn.

step up development and commercialization of new products. This will open up
greater opportunities for us in our sector and allow us to significantly
increase our exports to markets where Canada currently has limited presence,"
explained Éric La Violette, Candock's Director of Business Development and
R&D.
