The Honourable Maxime Bernier, Minister of Foreign Affairs, will travel to Seoul,
South Korea, on February 24 and 25 to attend the inauguration of Lee Myung-bak as
President of South Korea.
“Canada looks forward to working with President Lee and his administration,” said
Minister Bernier. “Increasingly, Canada and South Korea share common ground where
we work together productively. Our bilateral ties, including our trade relations, continue
to grow and contribute to the well-being of both nations. We have established a
partnership in the international sphere based on a shared commitment to multilateral
cooperation and the promotion of freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of
law.”
The growing Korean-Canadian community, which is one of the largest Korean diaspora
populations in the world, enriches Canada’s multicultural mosaic through the arts,
sciences, academia, business and numerous other fields.
