Minister Strahl Announces Appointment of Tara Tootoo Fotheringham to the National Aboriginal Economic Development Board

OTTAWA (February 21, 2008) – The Honourable Chuck Strahl, Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development and Federal Interlocutor for Métis and Non-Status Indians, announced today the appointment of Tara Tootoo Fotheringham as a member of the National Aboriginal Economic Development Board.

“Ms. Fotheringham is extremely active in her community and has significant knowledge of the issues related to business development in the North,” Minister Strahl said. “We welcome her expertise and contribution to the deliberations of this Board.”
The purpose of the National Aboriginal Economic Development Board is to advise the Government of Canada on strategies, approaches and programs aimed at increasing economic development opportunities for Canada’s Aboriginal people, whether of First Nations, Inuit or Métis heritage.
Ms. Tootoo-Fotheringham’s appointment is for two years and is effective immediately.
