PLUM POINT, NL - Mr. Dyson Sacrey of Ming's Bight was fined $500 in Plum Point Provincial Court on January 28, 2008 for sealing during a closed time.
While conducting a patrol on April 12, 2006, a fishery officer and fishery guardian from the St. Anthony Detachment boarded Mr. Sacrey's vessel "Midnight Chimes." Mr. Sacrey was sealing during a closed time approximately 3.5 miles inside sealing area 11, which is located along the west coast of the Northern Peninsula. An inspection revealed three seals had been harvested and at the time of boarding the crew on the vessel's auxiliary boat was engaged in sealing.
