Bois-des-Filion, Quebec, March 19, 2008 - Jacques Gourde, Member of Parliament for Lotbinière–Chutes-de-la-Chaudière and Parliamentary Secretary to the Honourable Jean-Pierre Blackburn, Minister of Labour and Minister of Canada Economic Development, today announced that AIREAU QUALITÉ CONTRÔLE Inc. will receive $200,000 in repayable funding to help the company achieve its strategic objective of bolstering productivity by acquiring leading-edge equipment. This acquisition is part of a plant expansion project that will necessitate an overall investment of $2,471,182 and result in the creation of nine jobs within the next two years.
Founded in 1993, AIREAU QUALITÉ CONTRÔLE Inc. is a ventilation systems specialist that is considered Canada's leading manufacturer of source capture arms and small mobile dust collectors for improved air quality control in industrial settings. The company's sustained efforts in research and development have earned it both a solid reputation and strong foothold in the United States market, where it is now seeking to increase its market share.
"The Government of Canada is proud to support a project that, like this one, stimulates innovation and competitiveness in a company operating within the fabricated metal products sector, a key priority sector for the Laurentides economy," noted Mr. Gourde.
This support from Canada Economic Development has enabled AIREAU QUALITÉ CONTRÔLE Inc. to follow up on the recommendations of a global diagnosis for productivity enhancement conducted in April 2007. As such, the company's acquisition of hydraulic press brakes and a high-definition plasma cutter will allow it to optimize the performance of its manufacturing processes while reducing turnaround time, costs and wastage, and thereby retain its commercial and technological leadership in the field.
"Keeping to the commitment we made in our Advantage Canada plan, our government is working hard to build a strong and vibrant economy centred on innovation. Carrying out this project will significantly help AIREAU QUALITÉ CONTRÔLE boost its productivity and competitiveness, while allowing the firm to strengthen its position on the American market and more fully capitalize on its potential for growth," concluded Mr. Gourde.
