SAINT-GEORGES-DE-BEAUCE, Quebec - Maxime Bernier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Member of Parliament for Beauce, on behalf of the Honourable Monte Solberg, Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, today announced funding for Carrefour jeunesse-emploi de Beauce-Sud to help 20 young people improve their employability skills.
"The Government of Canada is committed to creating the best educated, most skilled, and most flexible work force in the world," said Minister Bernier. "Through the Jeunes stagiaires de Beauce project, Carrefour jeunesse-emploi de Beauce-Sud will help young people gain the skills and knowledge they need to find and maintain employment or return to school."
The $87,000 in funding committed to the Carrefour jeunesse-emploi de Beauce-Sud will help young people gain life skills and work experience, and contribute to their community. Through this funding, the Government of Canada is demonstrating its commitment to helping youth acquire the skills and knowledge they need to find and maintain meaningful employment.
Through this project, participants will gain a better understanding of the realities of the workplace. They will benefit from a stimulating and valuable hands-on work experience that will help them prepare for the future.
Service Canada is funding this project through Skills Link, which is one of three Government of Canada programs for young Canadians. The two other programs are Summer Work Experience and Career Focus. These programs offer a wide range of services to respond to individuals' needs. The Skills Link program helps youth at risk overcome obstacles to employment, and acquire the skills, knowledge, and experience they need to participate in Canada's work force.
