ALMA, Quebec, March 3, 2008 - The Honourable Josée Verner, Minister of Canadian Heritage, Status of Women and Official Languages, today announced funding for Alma's FLASHE Fête.
Funding of $9,000 will be used by the organization I.Q. L'Atelier to help organize FLASHE Fête, an event that features professional and up-and-coming performing artists and creators in the various disciplines of music, theatre, visual arts and crafts. FLASHE Fête will take place from March 26 to 29, 2008.
"The Government of Canada is pleased to support, under the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage Program, I.Q. L'Atelier in organizing FLASHE Fête," said Minister Verner. "We are proud to partner with communities to support activities that celebrate local history, arts, and heritage."
"The FLASHE Fête 2008 organizing committee is very pleased to be able to enhance the presence of local artists thanks to the contribution of Canadian Heritage", said Ms Audrey Morissette, Coordinator of FLASHE Fête.
The new Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program, announced in September 2007, provides Canadians with more opportunities to take part in local activities that present arts and culture and celebrate local history and heritage. This program will benefit many community events and celebrations in Canada throughout the coming year.
The Government of Canada is committed to building stronger communities and to providing all Canadians with opportunities to get involved in their communities and in celebrating Canadian arts and heritage.
