The Honourable Maxime Bernier, Minister of Foreign Affairs, will visit Sudan from March 25 to 28, 2008. The Minister will be accompanied by Parliamentary Secretary Deepak Obhrai.
Minister Bernier will meet senior government officials from both the Government of National Unity and the Government of Southern Sudan, urging them to address ongoing violence in Darfur, the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement and human rights.
Minister Bernier will also meet with several representatives from the United Nations and the African Union, including those attached to peacekeeping missions in Sudan.
