On Friday, March 7, 2008, the Honourable Helena Guergis, Secretary of State (Foreign Affairs and International Trade) (Sport), will deliver a speech highlighting Canadian efforts aimed at promoting women's rights, accountable governance and economic opportunity for women in Afghanistan.
In keeping with International Women's Week, which will culminate in International Women's Day on March 8, Secretary of State Guergis will be joined at this event by the first-ever delegation of female parliamentarians visiting from Afghanistan.
