OTTAWA, April 14, 2008 -- The Honourable Josée Verner, Minister of Canadian Heritage, Status of Women and Official Languages, today announced the appointment of Yvon Bélanger as a part-time member of the Board of Telefilm Canada.
"I am pleased that Mr. Bélanger has accepted this appointment," said Minister Verner. "His experience in accounting will be a valuable asset for Telefilm Canada."
Now retired, Mr. Bélanger is a chartered accountant. During his career, he worked for major accounting firms, including more than 25 years at the firm of Mallette. As certification partner, Mr. Bélanger had very broad responsibilities that allowed him to gain substantial experience in the issues of standardization and presentation of financial statements. Mr. Bélanger is a member of the Ordre des comptables agréés du Québec as well as the Chambre de commerce du Québec.
