Convictions Under the Fisheries Act

QUÉBEC – Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Quebec Region, has just released a list of March convictions of fish harvesters in the North Shore fined for various violations of the Fisheries Act.

The total amount of the fines imposed is $4,200. The offenders are:

Daniel Scherrer	Havre-Saint-Pierre	Fishing for crab during a closed time.	March 4, 2008 $1,200	Michel Parent
Raynald Thériault	Havre-Saint-Pierre	Fishing for lobster without a licence and possession of berried females.	March 4, 2008 $2,000	Michel Parent
Guy Thibeault	Havre-Saint-Pierre	Fishing for Atlantic halibut during a closed time.	March 6, 2008 $1,000	Louise Gallant

Fisheries and Oceans Canada is mandated to protect and conserve marine resources and is ever alert for any poaching of marine resources.
