The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (the Agency) is making available $50,000 under its Participant Funding Program (the Program) to assist groups and/or individuals to take part in the environmental assessment of the proposed Lower Mattagami Hydroelectric Complex Redevelopment Project.
Ontario Power Generation is proposing to redevelop the Lower Mattagami hydroelectric complex, located approximately 70 km northeast of Kapuskasing in northern Ontario. The project calls for the expansion of the generating stations in Little Long, Harmon and Kipling with the addition of a turbine/generator. A new generation station is also planned at the Smoky Falls site.
To receive funding, successful applicants must participate in the environmental assessment process of the proposed project. Funding applications received by the Agency at the address indicated below by May 30, 2008 will be considered.
