The Honourable Helena Guergis, Secretary of State (Foreign Affairs and International Trade) (Sport), will attend the Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in Miami from April 6 to 8, 2008, and will deliver the Canadian governor's address to plenary on April 7, 2008.
The IDB is the leading source of multilateral financing for economic and social development in Latin America and the Caribbean. The Bank's Board of Governors, whose members are finance ministers or central bank presidents, meets once a year to review the IDB's operations and make major decisions on the institution's policies and programs.
