OTTAWA–Their Excellencies the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, and Mr. Jean‑Daniel Lafond are pleased to welcome an exhibit entitled Trace Elements: Selections from The Rooms P Provincial Art Gallery, to Rideau Hall, in collaboration with Newfoundland and Labrador's The Rooms Provincial Art Gallery. This exhibit on display in the Ambassadors' Room highlights the popular stories that reveal life in Newfoundland and Labrador, the flavour of its neighbourhoods and the morphology of the land.
The exhibit, consisting of 20 works on loan from The Rooms, evokes the memory of a country, whose landscape and sense of time is measured in stories. Newfoundland and Labrador has a long and rich memory shaped by its geological formations, the diversity of its culture and the memory of its people. Through these works, the artists share their personal memories and explore man's relationship with nature.
Visitors to Rideau Hall will be able to see this temporary exhibit during guided tours of the residence. For more information on tour schedules, visit www.gg.ca/visitus/tr_e.asp.
