Val-d'Or, Quebec, May 30 2008 – The Honourable Jean-Pierre Blackburn, Minister of Labour and Minister of Canada Economic Development, today announced that Festivals illimités, the organization responsible for the Festival des Guitares du Monde de l'Abitibi-Témiscamingue, has received $10,913 in non-repayable funding to focus its commercialization efforts on the Northeastern Ontario market with targeted media advertising.
"The Festival des Guitares du Monde en Abitibi-Témiscamingue is a major musical event the renown of which extends beyond your region. That recognition can largely be attributed to the dynamism and originality consistently demonstrated over the years by the members of the organizing committee. The world guitar festival also helps attract more and more tourists, thereby increasing the economic benefits for the community," explained Minister Blackburn.
The Festival's commercialization strategy focusses on advertising in the print media, updating the organization's Web site, and graphic design, translation and public relations activities. The funding for this project comes from Canada Economic Development's Community Diversification program.
