CALGARY, May 2, 2008 - This year marks the 5 th anniversary of the Canadian Race-Relations Foundation's (CRRF) Award of Excellence program, which recognizes excellence and achievement in anti-racism practice in Canada.
The Honourable Jason Kenney, Secretary of State (Multiculturalism and Canadian Identity), will address the 2008 Award of Excellence Symposium and Gala in Calgary, today.
"Our Government emphasizes the importance of integrating newcomers, combating radicalization, and encouraging collaborative projects between Canadians from diverse backgrounds," said Secretary of State Kenney. "We remain committed to supporting the values of freedom, democracy, the rule of law, and human rights."
The CRRF was proclaimed by the federal government in 1996 and opened its doors in Toronto, in 1997. A member of the Canadian Heritage Portfolio, the CRRF is a Crown Corporation working at arms-length from the federal government and is a key partner in addressing race-relations issues.
