Dolbeau-Mistassini, Quebec, June 25, 2008 – Acting on behalf of the Honourable Jean-Pierre Blackburn, Minister of Labour and Minister of Canada Economic Development, Denis Lebel, Member of Parliament for Roberval−Lac-Saint-Jean, today announced the recent awarding of $56,900 in non-repayable funding to Industries B. R. Métal Inc. for the acquisition of manufacturing equipment needed for the startup of a new enterprise.
A specialist in sheet metal processing, the Dolbeau-Mistassini firm plans to begin manufacturing aluminium garbage cans and ashtrays for industrial, institutional and commercial clients.
"I would like to applaud the spirit of initiative and creativity of Robin Boulianne, thanks to whom the aluminium processing sector will now benefit from a new manufacturing firm. With the establishment of this new enterprise in Dolbeau-Mistassini come major investments and the creation of five new jobs in the area. In keeping with the objectives of our Advantage Canada plan, the Government of Canada is committed to encouraging the startup of innovative businesses like Industries B. R. Métal because of the role these firms play in helping Quebec's communities stimulate their local economies. This financial support from Canada Economic Development is a clear reflection of that commitment," stated Mr. Lebel.
This funding has been awarded through the Canada Economic Development Community Economic Diversification Initiative –Vitality (CEDI-Vitality), the aim of which is to support communities experiencing slow economic growth in seven regions and 21 Regional County Municipalities (RCMs) across Quebec.
