Saint-Magloire, July 14, 2008 – The Honourable Jean-Pierre Blackburn, Minister of Labour and Minister of Canada Economic Development, today announced that the firm Moulures Modernes Inc. will be awarded $100,625 in repayable funding for the acquisition of specialized equipment to engage in contract manufacture operations for various contract givers in the Chaudière-Appalaches region.
Moulures Modernes specializes in the cutting and bending of metal for, among other things, the manufacture of a variety of steel and aluminium moldings and trims for use in the building sector. The acquisition of new leading-edge equipment will enable the firm to manufacture products of greater complexity and ultimately diversify its orders and boost its sales.
"Increasing the productivity of small and medium-sized enterprises is key to ensuring the prosperity of our country. That is why Canada Economic Development is proud to support enterprises seeking to become more competitive and to gain a foothold in new markets," stated Minister Blackburn.
This Moulures Modernes project, which will necessitate an $800,000 investment and result in the creation of five new jobs in Saint-Magloire, will help the firm improve its productivity and competitive standing in its market niche.
"This dynamic enterprise in the Etchemins RCM has initiated a project that not only promises to contribute to the economic diversification and development of the Saint-Magloire community, but that also furthers the Government of Canada's objective to provide the population will solid prospects for the future," the Minister concluded.
