Lachenaie, Quebec, July 17, 2008 – The Honourable Jean-Pierre Blackburn, Minister of Labour and Minister of Canada Economic Development, today visited Précision S.F. Tech to announce that the firm will receive $300,000 in funding to implement a productivity enhancement plan.
Since 2006, Précision S.F. Tech has specialized in the machining of complex, difficult-to-make parts for landing gear equipment manufacturers and prime contractors in the aeronautics sector. Until now, the financial assistance granted has enabled the enterprise to acquire a machining centre (five-axis numerical control) and implement an integrated management system. The upcoming addition of a barcode system for time management and product traceability will complete the project.
"Productivity is critical to the competitiveness of Quebec's SMEs. Thanks to its know-how, Précision S.F. Tech is one of the few SMEs in Canada with the ability to develop partnerships with landing gear equipment manufacturers. This is why I am proud that Canada Economic Development can contribute to making this firm even more high performing so that it can further assert itself in the aeronautics sector," said Minister Blackburn.
Recently AS 9100 certified, Précision S.F. Tech is currently developing new agreements to extend its services to new markets. The company also intends to improve its competitiveness to hold its own against the fierce competition in the global aeronautics industry.
"The aeronautics sector has, in the region alone, all the players needed to maintain its place among the three leading aeronautics capitals of the world. The announcement earlier this week that Bombardier will be building its C series aircraft at Mirabel has given us even further proof of that," said Minister Blackburn.
