MONTREAL, QUEBEC, August 14, 2008 - The Honourable Jean-Pierre Blackburn, Minister of Labour and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, is in Montreal today to present a certificate to CT TV Montreal (formerly CFCF) for its outstanding efforts in creating an inclusive workplace.
"CTV Montreal has demonstrated its commitment to workplace diversity and is a model for employers in Canada," said Minister Blackburn. "Our Government be lieves that diversity in the workplace is essential in ensuring that all workers in Canada make a strong contribution to a productive economy and a cohesive society."
CTV Montreal is identified as one of the top five employers in Canada in terms o f workplace diversity in the 2007 Employment Equity Act Annual Report. CTV Montreal received perfect marks for the representation within its work force of the four groups designated under the legislation: women, Aboriginal people, persons with disabilities and members of visible minorities.
The Employment Equity Act Annual Report, which describes the progress towards a more representative work force achieved by federally regulated employers, was tabled in the House of Commons on June 17, 2008.
