Dundee, Quebec, August 20, 2008 – The Honourable Jean Pierre Blackburn, Minister of Labour and Minister of Canada Economic Development, today announced the awarding of $38,500 in funding, half of it in the form of a non-repayabl le contribution, to the firm MGT.com of Dundee, in the Montérégie region. This funding will enable the company to adapt its municipal waste management dashboard to Web technology and thereby carve out a place for itself in domestic and globa l markets. This project will create four jobs and help diversify the region's economy.
MGT.com, which designs, develops and implements management dashboards, will use the funds from Canada Economic Development towards graphic design, the crea tion of an expanded database, the production of a user guide and market research.
"The growth of small and medium-sized enterprises depends in large measure on innovation. Through its research and development efforts, MGT.com has successfully developed an innovative solution that meets a growing need among municipalities in the area of waste management. It is to support companies like this that Canada Economic Development introduced the Innovation Support initiative as part of its 2008-2011 Strategic Plan. Armed with a $32 million budget over three years, this measure will enable enterprises in all regions of Quebec to benefit from this assistance in order to develop new products, processes and services, step up their commercialization activities and adjust to the particularly high demands of the global economy," Minister Blackburn explained.
