SAINT-TITE, Quebec, September 4, 2008 - Residents and visitors to Saint-Tite will have the chance to take part in a variety of activities during the Festival western de Saint-Tite, thanks in part to support from the Government of Canada a.
Jacques Gourde, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Labour and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, on behalf of the Honourable Josée Verner, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Stat us of Woman and Minister for La Francophonie, today announced funding for the Festival western de Saint-Tite.
Funding of $100,000 will be used for the cultural component of the 41st Festival western de Saint-Tite, which is taking place from September 5 to 14, 2008. On this occasion, people will move to the beat of cowboys and country music thanks to various festive activities, including shows featuring local artists.
"The Government of Canada is pleased to announce this fu nding to the Festival western de Saint-Tite," said Minister Verner. "We are proud to partner with communities to support activities that celebrate local history, arts, and heritage."
"Local festivals like the Festival wes tern de Saint-Tite bring people of all ages and backgrounds together and contribute to building strong communities," said Mr. Gourde. "I am proud that our Government has taken decisive steps to strengthen our shared sense of heritage."
The Government of Canada has provided this funding through the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program of the Department of Canadian Heritage. This program, announced in September 2007, provides Canadians with more opportunities to take part in activities that present local arts and culture and celebrate local history and heritage.
