OTTAWA-On October 2, 2008, at 9:45 a.m. in TorontoHer Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, will preside over the opening ceremony of a school that will bear her name. Michaëlle Jean Public School is a new public school in York Region where French immersion is offered. It is located at 320 Shirley Drive, Richmond Hill, Ontario.
Representatives from the school board, together with the school principal, will invite the Governor General to unveil a commemorative plaque and sign the school registry. The students will play musical interludes during the ceremony and bear gifts to Her Excellency. The Governor General will visit the school after the ceremony.
