Often aid workers put their lives at risk in order to help vulnerable people in developing countries. Yesterday's plane crash in Congo is a terrible reminder of how perilous their work can be.
Access by humanitarian workers to remote regions of Democratic Republic of the Congo is difficult. This crash near Bukavu resulted in the tragic death of 2 crew members and 15 human itarian workers, including a Canadian.
It is the selfless and courageous work of individuals such as these, who are at the heart of the delivery of international humanitarian assistance.
