The Honourable Michael M Fortier, Minister of International Trade, today announced the appointment of Marc Whittingham as president of the Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC).
"Mr. Whittingham's extensive experience in policy, strategic planning, financial management and procurem ent at CCC and in the public sector, as well as his recent work with the private sector to better understand the needs of the exporting community, makes him the ideal candidate for this position," said Minister Fortier. "I am confident that he will continue to contribute to the success of CCC."
Most recently, Mr. Whittingham acted as interim president at CCC. Prior to this, he was the Corporation's vice-president, St rategy and Organizational Development, providing leadership on its direction as well as expert advice to the president and Board of Directors.
Mr. Whittingham has more than 35 years of expe rience in the public sector, having held positions with Public Safety Canada, Industry Canada, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, the Privy Council Office and the Department of National Defence.
As Canada's international contracting agency, CCC has helped Canadian exporters access business opportunities with foreign governments around the world by using its unique relationships and contracting expertise for more than 60 years. CCC is activ e in more than 25 markets and manages over $1.5 billion in export contracts, providing prime contracting and procurement services in a wide range of sectors.
CCC reports to Parliament throu gh the Minister of International Trade.
