NR 08.01.008 - October 27, 2008
Ottawa (ON) – The judging for the 2008 DND Photography Contest is complete, and now it is the turn of the public to vote for the People's Choice Award. Celebrating its 40th year, the DND Photography Contest received a record 2113 entries from 328 talented amateur and professional photographers in the Defence community.
It is also the first year that the contest has gone digital, accepting images only in digital format to make the contest more accessible to members of the CF community. As well, a new category, Animals, has been introduced. The other categories remain Military Life, Family Life, Environment, Portrait, Special Effects, Sports, and Open. All categories are open to both professional and amateur photographers.
The winning photos are now available for on-line viewing and the public can vote for their favorite at www.dndphotocontest.ca. Everyone who votes is eligible to win one of a number of prizes, which can be viewed at the contest website. Voting closes on November 7.
The contest is organized by Canadian Forces Imaging Services and Canadian Forces Personnel and Family Support Services (CFPFSS), under the auspices of the Deputy Minister of National Defence.
