OTTAWA-At the request of the Right Honourable Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, will welcome participants to the Canada-European Union Summit to the official Residence of the Governor General at the Citadelle of Québec. She will receive the President of the French Republic, His Excellency Nicolas Sarkozy, the President of the European Commission, His Excellency José Manuel Durão Barroso, and the Prime Minister of Canada on Friday, October 17, 2008.
Here are the Governor General's official activities during the Summit:
11:30 a.m.
Official welcome of dignitaries by the Governor General
The Governor General will officially welcome the President of the French Republic, the President of the European Commission, and the Prime Minister of Canada, when they arrive at the Residence.
Open to media – Photo op of the official arrival of the dignitaries outside the Residence.
11:40 a.m.
Discussion between the Governor General and the President of the European Commission
Her Excellency will have a discussion with the President of the European Commission, His Excellency José Manuel Durão Barroso.
