Namaste.
As Secretary of State (Multiculturalism and Canadian Identity), I extend best wishes to people in Canada and around the world who are celebrating Diwali–the Festival of Light.
Diwali celebrates light's victory over darkness and the triumph of good over evil. It is a time for family, friends, and community to join together to reflect on the past and look forward to the future.
This is also an excellent time for people in Canada to take part in local festivities and to recognize the significant contribution that Indo Canadian culture and tradition have made to the strength of our diverse and vibrant communities.
It is my great pleasure to wish everyone a Happy Diwali.
Namaste.
