OTTAWA, November 12, 2008 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Lucerne Foods (a division of Canada Safeway Limited) are warning people with allergies to egg proteins not to consume Lucerne 10% Half and Half Cream described below. The affected product may contain egg which is not declared on the label.
The affected product, Lucerne 10% Half and Half Cream, is sold in a 1 L paper carton bearing Best Before date NO26 and UPC 0 58200 07825 1. This product has been distributed in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia.
There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.
Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to egg proteins.
The manufacturer, Lucerne Foods (a division of Canada Safeway Limited), Calgary, AB is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
