(OTTAWA) – November 20, 2008 – Export Development Canada (EDC) will be introducing a number of Canadian companies with internationally recognized expertise in the infrastructure and construction sectors to buyers in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) as part of its second trade mission to the region, to be held between November 14 to 27.
'This mission is meant to connect the many supplier needs of the GCC's infrastructure projects and Canadian construction companies, who are among the very best in the world in this sector,' said Francoise Faverjon-Fortin, Vice-President, Infrastructure and Environment and head of the trade mission. 'Canadian construction companies are already present in the region, and many more are aggressively pursuing opportunities here, bringing much needed capacity and expertise to the GCC.'
The current mission is built upon the success of last year's infrastructure and construction trade mission to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), and is intended to help position Canadian companies to provide their expertise to the trillion dollars of infrastructure projects already underway in the GCC.
The mission will travel to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh and Jeddah, where Canadian companies will meet with key decision-makers of major infrastructure projects in the GCC.
The EDC Infrastructure and Construction Trade Mission is being planned in collaboration with Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation, the Canadian Embassies in Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia, and the Canadian Consulate in Dubai.
