The Honourable Stockwell Day, Minister of International Trade and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway, will travel to Panama City, Panama, from December 9 to 10 to attend the first ministerial meeting of the Pathways to Prosperity in the Americas initiative.
The Pathways initiative was formally launched September 24 in New York at a leaders' summit on the margins of the UN General Assembly meeting. The initiative comprises the following countries: the United States, Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Chile, Colombia, Panama and Peru. The group's objective is to consolidate gains from existing trade and move forward with a more ambitious hemispheric trade liberalization agenda.
