OTTAWA, December 12, 2008 - The Honourable Rob Nicholson, P.C., Q.C., M.P. for Niagara Falls, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following appointment:
The Honourable David A. Peddle, a Judge of the Provincial Court of Newfoundland and Labrador, is appointed a Judge of the Trial Division of the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Mr. Justice Peddle received a Bachelor of Arts from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 1974 and a Bachelor of Laws from Dalhousie University in 1980. He was admitted to the Bar of Newfoundland and Labrador in 1982. Mr. Justice Peddle was appointed to the Provincial Court of Newfoundland in 1974 and appointed a Deputy Territorial Court Judge for the Northwest Territories in 1988. Mr. Justice Peddle was a Provincial Representative on the Canadian Provincial Judges Association Executive and served two years as a member of the Judicial Council of the Provincial Court of Newfoundland and Labrador.
This appointment is effective immediately.
