OTTAWA-Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, will host the YMCA Fellowship of Honour Ceremony in the Panorama Room at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa on Tuesday, January 27, 2009, at 10 a.m. The Governor General is also Patron of the YMCA.
The Fellowship of Honour recognizes outstanding service of the highest degree and significant impact on the YMCA movement. Established in 1978, the award recognizes the lifetime contribution of strong leadership and community capacity building by the women and men, volunteers and staff, of the YMCA. Through their commitment, energy and passion they have demonstrated how Canadians continue to work together to strengthen lives and communities. Eight recipients from across Canada will receive the award this year:
