OTTAWA, March 13, 2009 — The Honourable Tony Clement, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC), today appointed Dr. Dragan Matovic to the CTC's Board of Directors for a term of four years.
“Through his work in the tourism industry, Dr. Matovic has demonstrated his dedication to improving and promoting his community,”said Minister Clement. “As a new board member of the CTC, I know that his passion and dedication for tourism will offer the board a fresh perspective in raising Canada's profile as a tourism destination.”
Dr. Matovic currently serves as Principal/CEO of Halex Ventures Inc., a real estate development firm. Previously, Dr. Matovic was Principal/Vice-President of Rado-Mat Holdings (Canada) Ltd. from 1986 to 2002, and Principal/President of Rado-Mat Holdings U.S. Inc. from 1990 to 1997.
Dr. Matovic holds a Ph.D. in marketing from Virginia Tech and has done post-doctoral studies at Harvard University.
The role of the CTC is to market Canada internationally as a tourism destination of choice.
