March 31, 2009
OTTAWA - Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, will receive a bouquet of daffodils from two young cancer patients to mark the beginning of the Canadian Cancer Society's Daffodil Month. The bouquet presentation will take place on Thursday, April 2, 2009, at 10 a.m., in the greenhouses of Rideau Hall.
The daffodil is the Canadian Cancer Society's symbol of hope in the fight against cancer.
Daffodil Month, which takes place in April, not only supports cutting-edge research, but also raises awareness about cancer prevention and the Canadian Cancer Society's many community services. Daffodil Days are from April 1 to 5, 2009. Volunteers will be selling the yellow blooms to raise funds in the hope of eliminating cancer.
