This project includes the construction of wharf facilities; installation of water, wastewater, electrical distribution services and design of key visitor experience elements in support of the development of Georges Island as an operational National Historic Site, open to the public.
McNab’s Island Contaminated Site
McNabs Island Contaminated Site Remediation
$1,200,000 ($944,000 from the Accelerated Action Plan for Federal Contaminated Sites Fund and $235,000 from Parks Canada)
This project will involve remediation of the former Department of National Defence petroleum handling and storage area on McNab’s Island including the removal, cleaning and disposal of all piping installations; the demolition and disposal of the concrete building; the removal, cleaning and disposal of tank bases; and the excavation of contaminated soil and water.
