Ottawa, March 27, 2009 - The International Theatre Institute (ITI) established World Theatre Day in 1961 to highlight the importance of theatre and the performing arts. Since then, organizations and individuals across the globe have honoured one of humanity's oldest art forms by making theatre more accessible with special performances, workshops, and seminars.
Live theatre entertains, enlightens, and inspires. It brings people together and contributes to quality of life in communities large and small. Our Government is proud to be investing in cultural infrastructure where artists can showcase their talent and theatregoers can enjoy the latest performance.
