Prime Minister Stephen Harper today issued the following statement on the passing of Michael Baker, Nova Scotia Finance Minister:
“Michael Baker spent more than a decade in the service of the people of Nova Scotia. He was a stalwart member of the provincial legislature, a tireless advocate on behalf of the people of Lunenberg and a capable minister who was entrusted with many of the government’s most challenging portfolios including Aboriginal Affairs, Transportation and Public Works, Finance and Justice. His service and leadership will be missed.
“On behalf of all Canadians, I would like to extend my sincere sympathies to Mr. Baker’s family and loved ones.”
